PLANNING Lesson summary and focus: This lesson plan is on oral language and written language development. To accomplish this, we will use books to read aloud, picture books, and use the tapping method to help decode words. Classroom and student factors: Small groups Keeping students engaged to keep them on task National / State Learning Standards: “RF.1.2 Demonstrate understanding of spoken words, syllables, and phonemes (sounds). a. Distinguish long from short vowel sounds in spoken single-syllable words. b. Orally produce single- syllable words by blending phonemes, including consonant blends. c. Isolate and pronounce initial, medial vowel, and final phonemes in spoken single-syllable words. d. Segment spoken single-syllable words into their complete sequence of individual phonemes” (ODE, n.d.).
