General Electric was formed in 1892 from the merger of Edison General Electric located in Schenectady, New York and Thomas-Houston Electric Company located in Lynn, Massachusetts. The company is currently headquartered in Fairfield, Connecticut. In 1896, General Electric was one of the original twelve companies to list in the Dow Jones Industrial Average, and the only one still remaining from the original twelve. From the time it was first made in 1892, to the present day, G.E. has continued to grow both nationally and internationally. General Electric has established many different products and services across the globe. The industries that G.E. has established included appliances, aviation, consumer electronics, electrical distribution, energy, finance (both business and consumer), healthcare, lighting, oil and gas, rail, software and services, and water. They have expanded from just giving electricity to providing water treatments, jet engines, and credit services to consumers. The current CEO of General Electric is Jeffery Immelt. Immelt has held this post since he was elected in 2001. Since his election, Immelt has been named one of the “World’s Best CEO’s” three times by Barron Magazine and G.E. has been considered “America’s Most Admired
