Marina Waters “Quilting on the Rebound” Terry McMillan 1. Narrator conclude that “this relationship was going nowhere” because Richard was younger than Marilyn. Richard had a long reputation for being a Don Juan. I can’t see two personalities. I see two different people who should not to be together at start. First – young black male, who is not ready to commit yet. He has “cold feet “. Second person is Japanese- black woman. She is ready to start family. She is ready for baby. Her biological clock is ticking very load. In my opinion, Richard and Marilyn are together because she “blew his mind in bed”. Richard is young and very charming. He can meet any woman he wishes – young and pretty, sexy and desirable. But Marilyn got pregnant and he wants to make things right – marry her. 2. I see Richard’s point of view. He is a young, successful professional. Marriage is not in his plans. He wants to have a “good” time without responsibility. He is only twenty-six.
