SCIENCE: FORCES HOURS: 2x week (6 wks) YEAR : 6 TERM: Spring TEACHER: Mrs West SUB-TOPIC LEARNING OBJECTIVES MAIN ACTIVITY LESS ABLE EXTENSION ASSESSMENT GENERAL To understand that a push or a pull is a type of  force. Class discussion on different types of force.  What do they do?  Categorise squeeze/ stretch/  turn/twist and squash as either push, pull or  both.  Demonstrate each. Look at examples of where forces cause objects  to speed up, etc. In books write short descriptions of forces.   Identify on pictures direction of forces – forces  acting opposite one another. Briefly cover balanced forces. To know and understand that there are different  types of forces including squeeze, stretch, turn,  twist and squash. To understand that you can’t see a force only its  effects. To understand that a force can cause an object to:  - speed up  - slow down  - change direction  - stop
