Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep Essay2 There are a number of differences and similarities between Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep and Blade Runner . The point of this essay is to compare the two in a broader sense of delving down to the very messages and themes each masterpiece offers to the reader and audience. The accomplishments combined are enlightening and there is no doubt that the very seems of the science fiction world have been influenced by American writer Philip K. Dick and director Ridley Scott. Their abilities to capture inquiring minds through the test of time have refined and surfaced the spine of the novel and essence of the movie. Let’s start out analyzing a central theme and the message that surrounds the novel Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep . When the reader first opens the novel and reads they automatically jump into the future where mechanical creations are a threat. There in lies a theme. The ethical standpoint of disposing the androids is a dilemma woven throughout the novel. This theme delivers a striking message through Deckard especially. Is it right or wrong to dispose of alternate forms of life? Are they even alive to begin with? His constant search of meaning in killing androids brings the reader face to face with ethical issues of sentencing other life forms. Of course Deckard does not recognize androids as an alternate form of life till he smites every rogue android assigned. In the end he kills off all of Rachel Rosen’s friends and in return she kills off his goat
