CIS 6930 Distributed Multimedia Systems, Fall 2011 Catalog Description: CIS 6930 Special Topics in CIS (3; max: 9) Prereq: vary depending on topics. Goals: Understand the integrated design issues for distributed multimedia systems; Survey of recent advances in distributed multimedia systems; Network support for multimedia comput- ing and communication. Suggested Textbook: “Multimedia Fundamentals: Media Coding and Content Processing” by R. Steinmetz and K. Nahrstedt, Vol. 1, Latest Edition, Practice Hall. List of Research Papers: A list of recent research papers will be edited and distributed by Dr. Jonathan C.L. Liu. Meeting Times and Location: 12:50pm-1:40pm Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays in CSE E220. Regular lecture attendance is required: . We will randomly choose 10 lectures to check your attendance. Each attendance check accounts for 1% of your final grade. Cell Phone Policy: Cell phones should be turned off during the lecture hours to provide the quiet learning environment for every student in the classroom. Exams and Assignments: NO Final Exam.
