COP 3275 Programming Using C Language Fall 2011, Programming Assignment #1 Yi Wang Radhika Medury Min Chen [email protected] [email protected] [email protected] Due Date: Wed. Sept 21, 2011 @ 12:00pm (noon) NO Late submission is accepted! Problem description: Write a program that asks the user to enter an integer value for and then calculate the value for the following polynomial: ± ² ³ ´ µ ¶· ¸ ² ¶· ¹ µ ³ ² ¶ For example: Please input an integer value for x: -1 The value of the polynomial for x = -1 is: -32 You may need to use the Horner’s Rule , which decompose the polynomial like this: (º»¼ ² ³) µ ¶·½ ² ¶·¾ µ ³¿ ² ¶ Note that this will perform fewer multiplications, instead of doing À À À À to get ± . Another way to deal with this problem is to use the pow() function of math.h library to calculate Á . To use this function, you will need to include math.h in the header of your source code file. A simple reference for some useful functions and libraries can be found here:
