COM 225 Exam 2 Study Guide pt 1 03:33 Chapter 4 Sense and Sensibility Story Marianna and Elinor are two sisters growing up in the 18 th  century. The story follows the story of  two women who fall in love. Both have contrasting views of how to expression emotion;  Marianna believes that emotions should be openly vented and embodies “sensibility” while  Elinor is the opposite, feeling that emotions should be silenced and embodies “sense”. Neither of  these extremes are ideal for today’s communication.
