The issues that inspired this cartoon are the recognition and later apologize of the Republican Party members such as Mark Sanford, David Vitter, John Ensign or Larry Craig to their Republican colleagues for the extramarital affairs all of them have recently had. For me, this cartoon has a clear message: the double standards of politicians. In this case the Republicans were the ones who are being targeted, but I think that this cartoon applies to politicians of all parties and ideologies. In my opinion, the artist of this cartoon did an excellent job persuading the reader. When someone sees the cartoon, no matter its political orientation, it immediately starts to critically think about the hypocrisy of politicians messages. Moreover, this cartoon gives a clear opinion of the events that inspired it. It basically says that the Republican Party should stop preaching values that its leaders don't practice, or that party has to establish new parameters on their leader’s behavior. 2.
