Jenna Horwich Philosophy 05/10/2011 Another Piece of Paper Existentialism Semester Paper The way we see things, believe things, and act upon things cannot be defined or written out. I cannot write down how I will behave to make a person understand it. Yes you may be reading these words but the way you take them in will never be the same as the way someone else or myself will have perceived it. Our society is based upon perfection and structure. Systems have been created to develop a sense of stability within the population, but over time we have come to depend on this. Change or to stray from the norm has greatly become frowned upon. Existentialism- to define your own life or to figure out the purpose of your existence in this world greatly correlates with this cookie cutter idea of earning a degree. A degree is a piece of paper that is supposed to represent all of your accomplishments of study and knowledge to then prove that you as a person have the requirements necessary to then go on to get a certain job?
