Kaitlin McCann 11/13/11 Extra Credit 2 Option # 13 The 48 hours documentary, Words can kill , was a great look into the struggle that thousands and thousands of kids go through each and everyday with bullying. The shocking thing for me as a future educator is that throughout this film, parents and kids talk about the minimal amount of actions that the administration took to help these kids. One mom stated that she felt like she was sending her child into a warzone each and every day, stating “ if their words were knives [my daughter] would be dead a long time ago”. Although this video focuses a lot on verbal and cyber bullying I think it ties in a lot to what we have been going over in class, specifically chapters 11 and 12. Chapter 11 focuses on Pro-social Behavior and I immediately think about the bystander effect and the diffusion of responsibility. Both of these deal with the finding that the greater number of bystanders who witness and emergency, the less likely one is to help, and a sense of
