Contrast: to compare in order to show unlikeness or differences. Counter Default Descender: The parts of letters that are below the baseline. Dingbat: A small, ornamental character. Contained in fonts such as Zapf Dingbats and Wingdings. Dithering: using a mixture of pixels from a finite set of colors to create what appears to be a different color not in the palette, usually in GIFs/web design. Dot pitch: A specification for computer display, computer printer, image scanner, or other pixel-based device that describes the distance between dots of the same color on the inside of a display screen. Dot per inch (dpi): a measure of spatial printing or video dot density, in particular the number of individual dots that can be placed in a line within the span of 1 inch. Download: transfer a file or program from a central computer to a smaller computer or to a computer at a remote location. Dropped cap: large capital letter that extends down into the first two or more lines. Used as a design element.
