TECHNOLOGY IN AIRCRAFT DESIGN AND MANUFACTURE2AbstractThe aviation industry is one of the most demanding industries. The end products have tobe of the best quality available while being very complex. Newer aircrafts are designed andmanufactured to be more environmental friendly, be more efficient, provide better safety and atthe same time guarantee money saving to the manufacturers. Thus, designers and manufacturersare in the constant search of technology with the objective to produce materials that aresimultaneously lighter and stronger. The different sections involved in the aircraft productionprocess benefit from the implementation of these new techniques. Supply chain will benefitbecause the items needed to manufacture parts are smaller and lighter, therefore easy to store andtransport. Also, parts being smaller and lighter along with the help of better machines andequipment make the assembly line’s work will be easier. The benefits of all these technologicalimprovements will contribute to the aviation industry more secure, more efficient, and above allless costly.

Thanks to the development of new technology,designers are now able to let their imagination run when making their design decisions. Thetechnology at their disposable enables them to design and produce parts that fulfill therequirements of lightness, strength, resistance, and superior quality, and easy to assemble. Theobjective is to have end-products that are environment friendly, require less effort to produce,and have a higher return on investment. In this assignment, we will describe some technologyand their contribution to the aviation design and manufacture.
