1 To attend a college party, there are no qualifications that a student must have in order to have a good time. All a student needs is an address and five dollars to pump their bodies with barbiturates until they can start making the poor decisions that they will inevitably regret the following morning. College parties will start anytime between ten thirty and midnight and they will continue until the keg is kicked, the cops come, or everyone who doesn’t live in the house gets out. Usually, this happens anytime between four and five in the morning. Getting drunk at college does not demand any form of identification. There is no longer the obstacle of getting around the law to purchase alcohol. The problems presented by coming home reeking of beer after a long night of drinking have been eliminated. When a freshman comes to college, they bring with them a trunk of clothes, a television, a refrigerator, a microwave and the freedom to make their own decisions. Getting all this freedom at once can have especially dangerous consequences in freshman- and all students for that matter, and these effects are heightened in the presence of alcohol. Going out and getting drunk is absurd. It is not only detrimental to your physical health, but it is also harmful to an individual’s emotional well being. Not to mention that it is illegal for any individual under the age of twenty one to consume alcohol. Alcohol destroys brain cells, that unlike the others cells of the body- cannot be regenerated. It also has a negative long term effect on the memory. It would seem silly to the typical college student that this age restriction
