New Legal Codes and The Egyptian Empire Timeline: c3100-1000bce Terms: -Sargon a king of the, conquers and creates the first bureaucracy (to give out responsibility, spread out power) this is used as a model for future governments/empires -Babylon Mesopotamian city -King Hammurabi after initially controlling Babylonia he then rights the west first code of law, The Code of Hammurabi (creation on written law). Legal code to control his territory, make expectations clear. Large stone has the laws written on them in the center of Babylonia. (first legal code is stolen and later found in turkey) wants expectation to be clear (duties of those under him) -The Nile River super highway -Pyramids 2350-Akkadian Empire (falls apart in about 200years) -the sumar city states stop fighting when Sargon comes to rule akkard. Sargon was big, and an accomplished military leader. Could lead and train his men very well, a good leader. Becomes a dictator/king, wants to control the cities around, his tactics were brutal and violent. Creates empires (large territory ruled by a single political force) through
