ELEG 341 - Solid State Electronics II Fall 2010 Homework #10 - due Tuesday, 16 November 2010, end of day 1. Problem 7.6 (a) only in chapter 7, p. 392 of Streetman & Banerjee (6th edition). Hints: make reasonable assumptions about the relative size of parameters, such that α , γ , and B 1, and that the hyperbolic functions can be approximated by one or two terms. Then obtain the γ -B product to get α , and α /(1- α ) 1/(1- α ) to get β . With these first order approximations, the result for β (or 1/ β if simpler) should just have the ratios of doping, and lengths, which then can be used to estimate the effects of increasing or decreasing the parameters. 2. Problem 7.7 (sketches only) in chapter 7, p. 392 of Streetman & Banerjee (6th edition).
