Motivation: The Key to a Successful Workplace Professor Taggart Fros Abstract Clearly, motivation is key in deciding how smoothly a company runs. However, when assessing how your personal company works, it’s important to first assess how your own motivation is excelling or lacking. In this paper, I detail the main sources of my own personal motivation by addressing two main questions: First, “To the best of your assessment, what presently motivates you in an organizational environment and why ?” Second, “Based on your motivational assessment, identify and explain your motivational strengths and weaknesses.” The final issue addressed in this paper is that of a formulating a personal motivational plan to further assist in improving my ability to be motivated. More specifically, the call to action is worded as follows: “Formulate a personal plan that will empower you to enhance your intrinsic motivation within an organizational culture. Overall, this paper is meant to be a personal motivator in and of itself by first addressing the common questions surrounding personal motivation and then offering remedies to those problems discovered through that exploration.

Motivation: The Key to a Successful Workplace Introduction “Motivation: The processes that account for an individual’s intensity, direction, and Motivation is an interesting subject on many levels, but one of the main reasons that I believe it is such a changing topic is due to the fact that, although we all wish differently, it is very subjective. Although one thing might serve as highly motivational for one person, that same thing may have very little value to another. That is why in business, it is of highest import to focus on and pinpoint those individual values in employers and employees alike to run a business smoothly. However interesting that may seem, more importantly than finding flaws in other people’s motivational performance is recognizing your own motivational patterns. It is truly impossible to first be a good worker until you have discovered your general abilities and disabilities in the workplace. Furthermore, for those seeking to reach higher employer, namely management, I would suggest that it is nearly impossible to be a leader and proper superior without first understanding what actually motivates you and what would motivate you if you were in the same situation as a subordinate. In turn, failing to fully comprehend human nature by refusing to address your own flaws and personal motivational issues is ultimate failure as a manager. “ The only race you have to win is the race against yourself - there will always be someone faster and stronger but there will never be another you, so look within and push your own personal boundaries” (Pandya, 2011). This is a true fact.
