Unformatted text preview: MAC 1147 Student Guide Fall 2010 Contents: Syllabus Calendar Assignments Sample Exams MAC 1147 Syllabus COURSE CONTENT: MAC 1147 is a fast-paced review of algebra and trigonometry designed to prepare students for calculus, in particular, MAC 2311 Calculus I for science and engineering majors. Students who desire a slower pace may take MAC 1140 and MAC 1114. Note: a student can receive at most four hours credit for taking both MAC 1147 and MAC 1140, at most four credit hours for taking MAC 1147 and MAC 1114, and at most five credit hours for taking MAC 1147, MAC 1140 and MAC 1114. Students taking this course for Gordon Rule or general education credit, and who do not need precalculus for their major or as preparation for calculus, might consider taking MGF 1106 or MGF 1107 instead. TEXTBOOK: Precalculus with Limits , UF custom copy, 2 nd edition, by Larson. New books are prepackaged with online homework code, e-book code, and student solutions manual (ISBN: 9781111496579) at a discount, or you may purchase an enhanced Webassign (ISBN: 9780538738101) including online homework and e-book codes. Copies of the text book and solutions manual will be available on reserve at the Science Library in Marston Hall and the Education Library at Norman Hall.
