(1stgrade) Students will see that there are three dogs and three cats. They will take one dog, then one cat, and place them below. Once they place one of each object/animal, they will see there are two of eachleft. The student will start seeing a pattern with the number of objects left. Students will then pull out another dog and cat. This will allow them to see there is only one of each left. Students will be able to put the last dog and cat in the sequence to make a repeating pattern.(2ndgrade) Students in first grade will already know how to count by fives. Students will see the first number is a 5, followed by 10 and 15. There are two blanks so, if the students keep counting by fives, they will know to write down 20 and 25 to complete the increasing pattern. This will be easy for students to solve because they canl see that the numbers are increasing by 5 every time.
