Organizational politics is defined as the pursuit of individual agendas and self interest in an organization without regard to their effect on the organization’s efforts to achieve its goals. In the situation of Steve Jobs and the Apple Corporation it is quite evident that organizational politics played a role. Jobs worked with the board of directors and slowly pulled them to his side and convinced them that he was the man to run the show. Apple was doing fine with their old CEO, but Jobs’ ideas and competitive spirit was what the company was looking for. The decision to place Jobs as the CEO was done to better the company and we know now where Apple Inc. has gone since then. There is one question that I have regarding organizational politics and that is how can one influence the perceptions of so many people in an organization?
