The table indicates immigration in 2009-10 (population years in Canada run from July 1 to July 1) is projected at 196,400. Thus if immigration in 2009 were 250,000, then population would be 53,600 larger in 2010. c. If the government were successful in changing immigration so that a larger proportion of immigrants are in categories immediately needed by employers, then you would expect Canada's employment-to-population ratio over time to increase. A larger proportion of immigrants than Canada's current population would be working. d.
