The Bajaj Group is among the top ten businesses in India with a footprint that spans a wide range of industries from automobiles to home appliances, lighting, iron and steel, insurance, travel and Fnance. The ±agship company of the group is Baja Auto Limited, which is the world’s fourth largest two- and three-wheeler manufacturer with a brand that is known across Latin America, Africa, Middle East, South and South East Asia. ²ormed in 1926, Bajaj Auto started manufacturing scooters through a joint venture with Italian company Piaggio and when the market demanded more motor cycles, it moved into this area through a joint venture with Kawasaki. Objective: India’s Bajaj Auto manufactures 2.4 million motor cycles a year. To achieve its strategic objectives it needed a deep insight into business performance. Approach: • Bajaj Auto engaged HP to provide business and technology consulting services to build an effective decision support and analytics system. • HP consulted senior staff to establish Key Performance Indicators (KPI). • It then designed and built a metrics-based analysis methodology which is delivered using SAP NetWeaver Business Intelligence (BI). IT improvements: Analysis path methodology intuitively guides business users to proactively solve business issues. SAP portals lead to clear user interfaces designed with SAP Visual Composer. Data warehousing is tightly integrated with SAP NetWeaver BI. Business benefits: Bajaj Auto now has improved real time visibility of its business performance. It can make more informed and faster decisions to support strategic business objectives. Ultimately this makes the company more efFcient and successful.
