Seminar 4 Critical Thinking Assignment Pointers Let me get you started on the CT assignment this week. Please note that there are a number of different ways you can go about answering this— I’ll set up one approach below. For the airplane seat question you'll need to include calculations. To start, refer to the chart from the text (below). For males, the mean buttock-to-knee length is 23.5 inches and the standard deviation is 1.1 inches, so the values range from 22.4 inches to 24.6 inches in length. For females, the mean buttock-to-knee length is 22.7 inches and the standard deviation is 1.0 inches, and the values range from 21.7 inches to 23.7 inches. Gender Mean Standard Deviation Distribution Low Value High Value Males 23.5 1.1 Normal 22.4 24.6 Female 22.7 1 Normal 21.7 23.7 In this exercise, there are two classes of people that will be unable to sit in the seats comfortably, women with buttock-to-knee lengths that exceed the male maximum buttock-to-knee length , and men with buttock-to-knee lengths which exceed the male maximum buttock- to-knee length.

### What students are saying

• As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

Kiran Temple University Fox School of Business ‘17, Course Hero Intern

• I cannot even describe how much Course Hero helped me this summer. It’s truly become something I can always rely on and help me. In the end, I was not only able to survive summer classes, but I was able to thrive thanks to Course Hero.

Dana University of Pennsylvania ‘17, Course Hero Intern

• The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
