Fear of SpidersMy unfortunate fear of spiders started in the summer of fifth grade. On that day, I was inthe forest with my friends playing hide-and-seek. As I crouched behind a bush, the sun blazedhigh in the sky, blinding me with its intense glare. My hair stuck to my forehead, and my backwas damp. My neck burned at the touch. Beads of sweat trickled down my nose and into thecorner of my mouth, filling my mouth with an unpleasant salty taste. Finally having enough, Ishrugged off my sweat-stained sweater and tied it around my waist. After several minutes ofsquatting, I yawned and rubbed my aching feet, trying to get some feeling back into my legs.Suddenly, I heard the distant sound of snapping twigs get louder and louder. The leavesscratched at my face and the thorns pricked at my bare arms as I leaned further and further intothe bush. I felt a presence on my left hand, and when I glanced down, a monstrous, spindlybrown spider carrying thousands of spider eggs on its back was covering almost half my hand.
