What were they thinking? That is a question that many people say when learning of a new decision that was made in their organization or seeing the outcome that was made through an industry. Over the past ten years bad decision making has been the top story within many media outlets. From the subprime mortgage loans to hedge risk with credit default swaps, bad decision making has been put in the forefront of our society for an extended period of time. It has not only been industries that have made bad decisions but single organizations have also made bad decisions. General Motors made terrible decisions about which cars to bring to market and Time Warner made a bad decision in buying AOL. Bad decision making has been consistently occurring because decisions have been viewed as the prerogative of individuals, usually senior executives. These executives have been sought to constantly make decisions without direction or input from anyone else. This has caused many companies to just continue making the same decisions and never changing with society. Decision making has also never been the focus of change or reengineering. Organizations have not thought to analyze the way their decisions are
