What do these narratives say about life in our culture? The Life, the People and the Culture Portrait of My Father in His 22 nd Year, Teenager Wasteland and the play Proof , all shared the generation gap in the literature. But what I want to focus on in this paper is why these teenagers are confused and what social background causes this uncertainty in teenage life. The life in America is fishing, drinking, dropping out from school, running away from home, and being haunted by the past.
