Anna Brisco Michelle Wang Tiffany Szeto Pregnancy-Stimulated Neurogenesis in the Adult Female Forebrain Mediated by Prolactin Shingo et al's 2003 paper, published in Science , demonstrates through a series of elegant experiments that pregnancy increases the rate of neurogenesis in the forebrain subventrical zone (SVZ). They further provide evidence that this increase in neurogenesis is mediated by prolactin, a pituitary peptide hormone.
