They didn’t have enough women working to qualify for a contract with the American air force o Were paid less for the same amount of work men did - Gender inequality illegal from the mid 60s but in no way disappeared - 4 social mechanisms that reinforce gender inequality o Discrimination o Segregation- women in jobs that are paid less o Incomparable worth- jobs valued less o Family obligations - Many women in business, finance and administrative occupations but only because of secretaries- Many women in health occupations but only because of nurses - Women tend to be in service, and nursing occupations - Family obligations o Exhausting and time consuming o Having kids decreases the amount of time to do training, and working towards a career...
