Andy Soliman ARLT 100 Rap Lyrics My favorite rap lyrics were Keep Ya Head Up, by Tupac. I liked these lyrics the most because of their intelligent metaphors, story-like narrative, and overall message. Most rap lyrics are just quickly spoken words, but some have deep and very clever lyrics with double entendres that can be missed if not read carefully. In these lyrics, Tupac is a master of using these double entendre riddled lyrics to convey his message. The perfect example of that in this song is the lines that read, “and since we all came from a woman, got our name from a woman and our game from a woman, I wonder why we take from our women, why we rape our women, do we hate our

Unformatted text preview: women? I think its time to kill for our women. The repetition and small changes from line to line create meaning and sound appealing rhythmically. I also like that Tupac uses his lyrics to tell a story, rather than as a group of disjoined lines or stanzas. His whole rap must be together in one piece for it to make sense as a story, which I like. Finally, I like these lyrics because of their positive message in the face of oppression. I think it is honorable, and that songs like these serve a greater purpose than just entertainment in their time....
