For example, there are several trash trucks seen piling rubble to haul it away. There is also evidence of road construction, and buses that may have been used to evacuate residents and that are now bringing them back. A local story from the Joplin Globe dated May 22, 2011, just days after the tornado struck, explains that authorities feared the death toll would pass 100. It also talks on the role of local hospitals, and their limitation to the critically injured directly following the disaster.
