Math 111 Fall Semester, 2010 Common Homework Assignments for All Classes September 8 – September 18 Note : The assignments below are for all sections of Math 111. Individual instructors may modify (assign special homework exercises, for example) homework assignments. Such modifications will be found in the “Notes” sub-conference for each instructor. For Day 6, Wednesday, September 8 Study the handout “Definition of Derivative” and do the exercises at the end of the handout. Do exercises from the textbook: (use the definition of derivative for each problem): pp. 119-121: 3(b), 5, 7, 15, 29 Do exercises from the textbook: pp. 131-132: 3, 23, 35 Write a paragraph, "What is a derivative and why is such a function useful?" Download the handout “Differentiation” and have it with you in class on Wednesday and the days following. Download the exercise handout “For Day 7 Exercises” and bring it to class on Wednesday.
