Sinusitis Sinusitis refers to inflammation of any one or more of the eight air-filled cavities (sinuses) that are found in the bones of the skull. Symptoms Sinusitis may be acute or chronic (lasting at least six weeks) and usually starts as an upper respiratory tract infection. The symptoms of sinusitis may give a clue as to the sinus(es) that are infected:- Frontal Sinusitis o Pain is localised around the forehead o Pain is exacerbated by leaning forwards, lying flat or when pressure is applied to the forehead Maxillary Sinusitis o Pain is localised over the cheeks o Pain can radiate through the upper jaw and teeth o Pain is exacerbated by leaning forwards, lying flat or when pressure is applied to the
