3/9/11 Correction: 14% of people come into office without prior experience Differences between the Judicial and Legislative Branch o Judges don’t initiate policy They come to them thru the court o Special rules for access Cases, 2 parties, some type of dispute o Specific legal procedures that must be followed in judicial process Judge plays referee o Decisions are specific to each case Influence future cases but are individual in the same token Liability o Contingencies fees A lawyer will not get paid unless he wins the case o Third Party Suit Does not have to be the actual person doing the action rather involves someone just merely related o Joint or several liability Any one person in the group of offenders can be held financially accountable for all of the costs if the others can not afford it o Pain and Suffering Any one person can be held accountable to pay for anything beyond… Ex: medical bills Bill of Rights only applies to Federal Government
