Intro to IR (POL2103 - Winter 2011) Midterm Exam Study Guide The midterm exam will cover the Introduction + Chapters 1, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 11 in the textbook, the case study on theory and the 2003 Iraq War (posted on virtual campus) plus my lectures. People’s handwriting varies widely, so it’s not possible to give exact length requirements. However, I suggest that each answer will require about 1 page (single-spaced). Those are rough estimates, and your answers may deviate somewhat from those lengths, but 3 lines won’t nearly be sufficient. A part of what you are being ‘examined’ on is how well you distill the ideas by identifying what’s centrally important in each of them. If I simply gave you the exact answer I wanted, it would just be a memorization game. Remember that in defining a term, you should be sure to mention its significance for the theory and practice of global politics. You will be graded out of 90 (with a corresponding letter grade to match your percentage result; e.g., a 72/90 = 80% A-), and the exam mark is worth 25% of your final course grade. Not all of
