The United States is concerned because of the following reasons. First, North Korea might attack the United States. According to Joel Wit, “It is unclear whether the secretary’s pronouncement that the North will have a limited capability to attack the West coast of the United States in five years is based on new intelligence. However, despite a long history of both private American groups and the US intelligence community, overestimating Pyongyang’s abil- ity to Strike the United states. .. Left unconstrained, the North may eventually overcome these obstacles and deploy long-range missiles.” This fear is a good enough reason to be concerned. Furthermore, United States Fear there might be a regional Arms Race. If an arm race starts the key players are going to be China, Japan, and south and North Korea. There might be plenty of devastation. Lastly, The fear of proliferation of weapons
