Tawil 1 Nevin Tawil October 26, 2011 English 102 Rough draft Professor Michael Noschka The negative effect of Bad boys 2 Bad Boys 2 is a 2003 action/comedy film directed by Michael Bay, produced by Jerry Bruckheimer, and starring Martin Lawrence and Will Smith. It is a sequel to the 1995 film Bad Boys. Narcotic cops Mike Lowrey (Will Smith), and Marcus Bennett (Martin Lawrence) head up a task force investigating the flow of ecstasy into Miami. Their search leads to a dangerous king- pin, whose plan to control the city's drug traffic has touched off an underground war. Not only has this movie been seen by millions but is also performed well at the box office, grossing $273,339,556 worldwide. People rate it as a 4 star movie and to some it is considered the best “cops and robbers film” However, does the movie represent real police officer roles? Movies like Bad boys 2 portray police officers by giving the public a false image of their tasks and poten - tially damage their view to the public causing conflict between the public and police. Bad boys 2 portrays detective work as exciting and dangerous. Both Will smith and Mar- tin Lawrence are presented as heroic characters, possessing great personal courage and ex- traordinary skill. The movie fosters the idea that police are detectives and that a good detective can solve any crime if he or she is only given the freedom and enough time to do it. According to Samuel walker, only 15 percent of sworn officers are assigned to detective units and usually the investigation only takes 24 hours. (The police in America, 2011) The movie shows Will and Martin taking weeks investigating the same crime and putting all their effort and time into it, giv-
