Sabrina Baez English 386 How to 2/1/2011 How to… Dear fatties and regular Joes, who made the “lose weight/get into shape” New Year’s resolution, This is your year. The year you’re finally going to get your jiggly ass off the couch and turn your flab into fab. This is the year you actually stick to that devious resolution and get into shape. If Jared can do it so can you! The first thing you need is motivation. Signing up and paying for a triathlon is just the push you need to drop those pounds. The best part is since you paid for the damn thing its extra incentive to actually follow through to the end. It is most convenient to sign up for a triathlon around the end of September, when it’s hot enough to swim in the refreshingly cool lake but cool enough to tolerate the bike ride and the run. You will need three essential things to begin your training for this multisport event; a bike, a swimsuit, and a good pair of running shoes. Training will go more smoothly if you pick one sport to focus on first. Running is the lowest maintenance event so let’s start there. Since the only cardio you’ve been getting lately is walking to your kitchen to get another beer, you can’t start off trying to run the whole 3 miles right away. Start
