Breone Mikell June 27, 2011 Page 1 How to disagree with your boss respectfully? Purpose : To inform on how to disagree with your boss in a professional manner. I. INTRODUCTION A. Attention material: One of the first thoughts that come to my mind when I think about disagreeing with a boss is disrespectful. Then, the next step is “You’re Fired”. B. Tie to the Audience : I’m sure that all of us, at one point in time, have experienced this difficult situation. You wanted to state your own opinion or you thought what your boss was saying was wrong. C. Credibility : On several occasions, when I was a Seasonal Assist for Air Tran Airways at the airport, I had to find a way for me to have a voice without being overbearing. Fortunately, my boss extended out ways for us to be heard & have a part in making decisions so you just have to approach the situation in a professional manner. D. Preview : I will explain specifically 3 tips that can make disagreeing with your boss less stressful. Transition
