Unformatted text preview: Germn Briceo Surez (Grannobles) Position: Commander, 10th, 28th, 38th, 45th, and 56th fronts. Background: Germn Briceo, younger brother of Jorge Briceo Surez, was born in the Duda region of Colombia, in the jurisdiction of Uribe, Meta Department, in 1953. His father was the legendary guerrilla Juan de la Cruz Varela, and his mother was a peasant woman, Romelia Surez. At the recommendation of his brother, Germn Briceo became an official member of the FARC in 1980. Even from that early date, Germn Briceo showed himself to be more of a fighter and bolder than his older brother, despite the latters own reputation for boldness. Germn Briceo was promoted rapidly to commander of the FARCs 30 th Front in Cauca Department. After founding a combat training school in that departments Buenos Aires municipality, he began to be known for his meanness.
