Rape and Sexual Assault Rape is not the same as sex Rape is violence, motivated by men with power, anger, selfishness, and sadistic issues. Rape is dangerous and destructive and more likely to happen in the United States than in most other countries of the world. There are 195 countries in the world today. The US typically is among the worst in terms of rape (yes, that means that most of the world’s countries are safer for women than the US). The FBI typically keeps statistics on violent crimes committed and reported to local police (unreported crimes cannot be counted in the FBI Uniform Crime Reports).
