Adverb An adverb is a word that describes a verb, generally to tell us more about the way something is being done (quickly, slowly, etc.). You usually form an adverb from an adjective by adding -ment to the feminine singular form of the adjective, e.g., heureuse (fortunate/happy): heureusement (fortunately/happily). If the masculine singular form of the adjective ends in a vowel, just add -ment , e.g., vrai (true), vraiment (truly). If an adjective ends in -ant , change it to -amment , e.g., constant (constant): constamment (constantly). If an adjective ends in -ent , change it to -emment , e.g., évident (obvious): évidemment (obviously).
