What are some of the major themes or sequences in stories o E.g., self-defining memories, crystallization of discontent, contamination and redemption sequences Self-Verification Perhaps people don’t always want others to see them in a positive light? Some people prefer to self-verification o E.g. People with low self-esteem sometimes want to be seen by others as they see themselves. Accurate Self Knowledge Your self knowledge might be right or wrong, like any other kind of declarative knowledge Accurate self knowledge has been considered to be a measure of mental health for two reasons o Healthy people see the world as it is, without need to distort it o Also accurate people are in a better position to decide on important decisions True Self Knowledge
