Estimate JF’s Ideal Body Weight using the Hamwi formula IBW: 106 + 66 = 172 lbs 2. Determine % IBW 205/172 = 119% 3. How would you interpret JF’s weight? Overweight 4. Calculate JF’s body mass index. How would you interpret his BMI? 205/2.2 = 93.2 kg 93.2/(1.8 x 1.8) = 93.2/3.24 = 28.8 Overweight 5. How would you interpret JF’s TSF and AMA? TSF: normal range of energy stores AMA: Average somatic protein stores 6. Calculate JF’s adjusted body weight. 172 + [.25 x (205-172)] = 180/2.2 = 81.8 7. Using JF’s adjusted body weight, JF’s BEE using the Harris Benedict and his RMR using the Mifflin-St. Jeor equation are: BEE = 66 + (13.8 x 81.8) + (5 x 180.3) – (6.8 x 42) = 1811 kcals
