Melissa McCarty ETH/125: Legislation Legacy University of Phoenix One of the current issues I found between Native Americans and the federal government would be getting President Obama to stop the expansion of the Keystone XL Pipeline located through the Indian country. This expansion becomes a concern for Native Americans because of the risk of causing harm to the water sources as well as the health and culture of American Indians if the expansion is granted and construction begins. The Obama Administration has already granted permission previously to Transcanada, the developer of the project, to begin the construction. However the State Department’s are in charge of reviewing the damage that may be caused both short and long term. Many American Indians are trying to plead their side of the story which is catching the attention of the President because of the health risks that may be involved which directly impact the American people. The legislative departments that are involved include the President of the United States, White
