Melissa McCarty IT/205 Checkpoint: Dorfman Pacific Rolls Out A New Wireless Warehouse University of Phoenix Dorfman Pacific, which is a manufacturer and distributor of handbags and headwear, has had many problems within its business processes that led an already redundant ERP/CRM system to fall deeper into disorder when they added major-box retailers Wal-Mart and JC Penney to its list of customers. The problems for Dorfman Pacific were more than technological; the problems also included its people and the organization themselves. Dorfman Pacific, being a traditional mom and pop retailer, had business processes that reflected the old customary paper based processes of pick-and-order styles that made havoc of their warehouse processes. The 85 year old company, with its people, organization and technology were still stuck in an era that no longer existed. The manual process of satisfying orders makes it very difficult to keep up with the demand from the big box stores such as Wal- Mart. Seasonal peaks forced Dorfman Pacific to hire on extra workers to satisfy the demand
