In the resulting offspring, 9 out of 16 are tall with yellow flowers, 3 out of 16 are tall with white flowers, 3 out of 16 are dwarf with yellow flowers, and 1 out of 16 is dwarf with white flowers. Use this information to answer the following quick questions (5 marks): a. How many genes are being followed in this problem? b. Name a dominant allele. c. What symbol(s) might be used for the dwarf plants with white flowers? d. What symbol(s) might be used for the tall plants with yellow flowers? e. What did the two parents look like? 3. In cocker spaniels, a long haired coat is dominant over a short haired coat. An individual breeder wants to know if his long haired male is true breeding so he performs a test cross. In the litter of 5 puppies, there are 2 puppies with short hair. a. Explain what a test cross is. (1 mark) b. Indicate the genotype of the father. Use a punnett square and show the expected genotypes and phenotypes of the puppies. (4 marks) 4. Louise has blood type B. Her 2 daughters have blood types AB and O. a. Can her children be true siblings, who have the same father?
