VW5590ZWNMEvaluate the extent to which ideas of Manifest Destiny motivated United States expansion in the period from 1830 to 1905.From the 1830’s to early 1910’s America looked to expand westward across North America. During this period of time, the term that would describe westward expansion is Manifest Destiny.Manifest Destiny was a term coined by John O’Sullivan that represented that it was God’s will for the US to expand westward. This term was also used to generalize the movement of the US specifically into the southwest after winning the Mexica-American War. The US at the time relied heavily on slavery in some areas, and with the expansion westward, many people looked to open new plantations there. This was a time when not everyone agreed on the expansion of slaveyr throughout the US. Along with th importance of slavery in the expansion westward, the acquisition of new territories were vital to this expansion. As the idea of Manifest Destiny grew, the more land the US took over. In the period from 1830 to 1905, there were many ideas that fueled manifest destiny. It can be argued that through only the want to acquire land from the Native Americans and Mexicans, and the want to grow military and political influence
