Wells Fargo CEO Tim Sloan conducted himself in a very professional manner. When
approaching sensitive topics such as a company-wide mistake or problem, it is
important to come across in a respectful and appropriate way of addressing difficult
situations. Tim Sloan talked about what people would want to see from Wells Fargo and
then made an effort to amend the problem that Wells Fargo seemed to face. People
expect an apology; they need to be shown that what has happened or is happening is a
mistake. Tim Sloan did not go into any details about why he was making the statement
that he made, but simply assumed that people already knew. In most cases, people
don’t need a recap of the problem, especially if they are tuning into an apology video.
Tim Sloan created an environment where you felt as a customer that he was committed
to making things right.
