Power to Create in One’s Mind Reality does not always end up the way we wanted it to be. People strive for better education, job, wealth, places to live and relationships on a regular basis hoping it to come true. When every expectation we anticipate fails, we begin to rely on our imagination to create a virtual reality and flashback on what we hope could happen if it actually occurred. Virtual reality is driven by the desires to reach beyond the limits of one’s ideal self. Imagination drives personal and social experiences by alternating in one’s mind from one perspective to another, and it can build our own self-contained universe where everything we imagine is possible. When referencing how we create or construct our individual worlds by our imagination, Sacks comments, “imagination dissolves and transforms, unifies and creates, while drawing upon the lower powers of memory and association” (Sacks 522).
