Introduction to Mechanical Engineering EML3004C-Fall 2002 Design Project Posted: 27 September 02 Due: 11 October 02 1. Your group is to design a setup to launch a small ball into a box at varying distances away from the launching unit. Also, a fan will be placed in two different positions. All aspects of the flight must be addressed, while nothing should be assumed to be negligible. You will be given 20 shots with the setup (5shots for each combination). The distance of the box will be 10 and 12 feet away.

Unformatted text preview: The fan will be placed behind the launcher for one test and behind the box for the other test. Your grade will be based on the number of balls that land in the box and the quality of the calculations, which should be done in MathCAD. The spring constant of the launcher is 33.1 kg/s^2. The mass of the ball is 9.636 g. Everything else is up to you to measure and figure out. Good luck. September 27, 2002...

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
